The Flores Music Tradition Lives on
Started by Jesse Flores Sr. in 1957, Flores music has been a staple in the Central Illinois area for over 60 years. Jesse was a talented multi-instrumentalist who took pride in the store and taught lessons there as well. Throughout those years, you would have seen a number of Flores in the store. Victor, Tony, Mike who handled most of the day to day in their two locations in Peoria & Pekin, IL.
If you’ve dropped by lately, you may have noticed a few things. The Flores boys have now retired! And, we wish them all the best as they enjoy their retirement.
So, what happens now?
Well, keeping the legacy alive, the store now lives on through new owners. No, they’re not someone who’s goal is to re-invent the wheel here and change everything. They are a couple of local musicians who have actually worked at the stores themselves, and who knows the importance of keeping this legacy alive. They know the industry well and were like family to the Flores.
Meet the new owners
Two local musicians themselves have decided to take the helm. Enter, Dirk McCoy and Cody Barra. Between the two of them, they have all of the basses covered… and guitars, and drums. Together, they are dedicating themselves to the services of their local musicians friends from Central Illinois & beyond. You’ll always find a friendly face and helping hand getting you what you need for your musical endeavors.
With two convenient locations right here in Central Illinois, both fully stocked with music gear to suit your needs.
Not only do they carry all of the name brands of stringed instrument, pedals, amplification, but they also provide lessons and repairs. Sure, the drum selection has slimmed down. But, you can still get all of the bassics of what a gigging drummer would need. ie: drum sticks, drum heads and accessories. And, of course we still have some of the finest drum instructors for drum lessons!
“We want you to have a great experience with us whether you’re a beginner or world famous musician. Come see us & we’ll get you started down the right musical path.”
